Reception Admissions
Once a year in September, we welcome a new Reception class. Pupils are admitted to Reception class in September at the beginning of the school year in which they will become 5 years old.
For Reception, we follow Southwark guidelines and procedures for our admissions, more information can be found on their website -Southwark Admissions.
If you are applying for a place in Reception then you must register, create an account and complete an on-line application. The online application form can be found here. The deadline for applications for entry in September 2025 is January 15th 2025. You will discover if your child has been allocated a place on Wednesday 16th April 2025 after 5pm.
If you are not successful in securing a place you may appeal. As a voluntary-aided church school the appeals process is organised through the Governing body. If you do wish to appeal not being given a school place
We currently ask for a supplementary form to be completed if you are a church goer. This is not a necessity but will strengthen your application in the case that we are oversubscribed. This form can be downloaded from the file section below.
We will be holding open mornings throughout the autumn term.
In Year Admissions
We are able to take in-year admissions anytime throughout the academic year but this, of course, is dependant on there being a space available in the required year group. Please contact the school office for further information and to see if there is a place in the required year group.
Consultation on Change of Admissions Arrangements
We are currently consulting about the proposed changes to admission arrangements at St. George’s C of E Primary School, Camberwell for the reception intake in September 2026. This consultation begins on 16th December and will run until 7th February. The new admissions policy and supplementary information form is and a letter detailing the proposed changes are attached at the bottom of this page.
Proposed Changes:
We are proposing removal of the word ‘statement’ from our Special Educational Needs section as this language is no longer used.
We are proposing to update our school logo on both the admission’s policy and supplementary form.
We are proposing to change from our current admission arrangements, 23 foundation places with 7 open places, to 30 open places in our reception class and will no longer be offering foundation places.
To facilitate this change we are updating our oversubscription criteria, merging the old criteria which was separated into open and foundation places.
We are also proposing to introduce a criterion for children who are regular worshippers from other faiths.
We are updating our supplementary form to reflect that applicants will be submitting a supplementary form for admission under the Church/place of worship oversubscription criteria and not foundation places.
Your participation in this consultation is invaluable, and we look forward to your input to ensure the best outcomes for our school community.
If you wish to comment on the proposed admissions arrangements, please send your response in writing, before the 7th February, for the attention of Ms Hales either by post or email to the school – consultation@stgps.org.uk.
